Career Advising

Our career advisors are available to meet with you individually and assist you throughout your career planning and job-search process. They are certified and trained to listen to your needs, help you increase your self-awareness and job market understanding, and coach you in developing a plan to reach your career goals. However, it is up to you to make career decisions, act on your decisions and make your career plan a reality. Confidentiality of personal information, assessment outcomes, and credentials is guaranteed. You can make use of this service as early as your freshman year and throughout your professional career as an alumnus.

Scheduled 30-minute appointments

You can schedule an advising appointment online with one of the career advisors through CareerWEB | Calendar tab. You will be able to view available advisors, check available time slots, and request an appointment. Your appointment request will be pending approval of advisor and you will receive an email confirming your appointment. For mock interview appointments, the advisor will ask you to provide your résumé and career of interest before the appointment is approved. Appointments range from 30 minutes to one hour based on the advising area. Appointments are scheduled based on availability, during working hours Sundays through Thursdays, except on official holidays and Career Center major events.

Appointment Cancelation or Rescheduling
In case there is a change of plan and you cannot come to your scheduled session, please cancel or reschedule the appointment on CareerWEB at least 48 hours in advance. Failure to show up for the appointment without prior apology will deny you access to scheduling any advising appointment for a two-week interval. Repeated no-show without apology will deny you access for a further period of time. If you are late for your appointment, you may be requested to reschedule.

Walk-in 15-minutes appointments
You can receive quick career advice within 15 minutes during the office’s designated walk-in hours from 12:00 to 3:00 pm, Sundays through Thursdays except on official holidays and the Career Center major events. Those sessions are on a first come, first served basis; no prior appointment is required. Peer career advisors are also available to meet with students. Services provided during the 15-minutes sessions may include:

  • Critiquing résumés
  • Providing interviewing tips
  • Addressing quick job-search concerns
  • Giving guidance on how to use CareerWEB
